Assistant Director, SEC
Anita Bandy is an Assistant Director in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement, where she leads and manages investigations of potential violations of the federal securities laws, including financial fraud, offering frauds, market manipulation, insider trading, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act, and other illegal acts that occur in the Mergers & Acquisitions, cyber, broker-dealer and investment-adviser space. Anita has helped to develop enforcement initiatives that focused on designing and implementing streamlined, data-driven strategies to identify potential violators. She was one of the key architects of the enforcement division’s initiative for Rule 105, which resulted in over 40 settled enforcement actions involving hedge funds, private-equity funds, and proprietary trading firms over illicit short selling. Anita also leads a division-wide task force that monitors and enforces compliance with the JOBS Act rules governing private equity offerings, offerings under Regulation A, and crowdfunding. Anita has worked closely with the Department of Justice and the FBI on multiple investigations and has deep insight into complex matters that involve both civil and criminal violations. Prior to joining the SEC, Anita spent several years in private practice at the law firm of Proskauer Rose LLP, where she focused on white collar and SEC defense work.
